Transport by taxi is reasonable and one can get a taxi from the taxi stand near the corner of the Electra House/end of India Street, outside hotels, shopping centres, cineplex or by contacting them through the telephone. Another good option is to hire a car.
• By Taxis
The taxi fare from airport to city centre is RM22.00 per way. In the city centre, taxis can always be found outside major hotels, shopping centres, eating outlets and cineplexes. The main taxi stand is located at Jalan Gambier and along Leboh Jawa. Taxi fare within the city area is normally charged between RM8.00 to RM15.00 You are advised to check with the taxi driver on the destination and fare before boarding.
• By Car Hire
Another good option of moving around in Kuching is hiring or rent a car. A number of tour operators provide chauffeur-driven cars, vans or 4WD vehicles are available, but there are only a few fully-fledged self-drive companies operating in Kuching. At peak periods it is advisable to book a car in advance.

IN AND AROUND KUCHING / NEARBY TOWN - By Bus
HOW TO GET TO THE WHARF (KUCHING)
• Express Boats (Kuching to Sibu)
Express Bahagia, service departs daily at 8.30 am. Tickets only sold at the wharf in Pending and it is advisable to arrive at the jetty 30 mins before departure. The best way to get to the wharf is by taxi ( RM20.00 per way).
HOW TO GET TO SANTUBONG VILLAGE (By bus)
Petra Jaya bus No. 2B and take approx 40 mins. Every 45 mins. First bus (from Kuching) 6.40 am, last bus 6 pm. Last bus back from Santubong 6.20 pm. Please check with the bus driver on the fare before boarding.
HOW TO GET TO SERIAN (By bus)
STC Express bus. No 3 or 3A. and take approx. 1 hr. Every 35 mins. First bus (from Kuching) 6.30 am, last bus 5.30 pm. Please check with the bus driver on the fare before boarding.
HOW TO GET TO SEMATAN (By bus)
STC bus No. 2B to Lundu, then catch connecting Lundu-Sematan bus. Please check with the bus driver on the fare before boarding.
HOW TO GET TO BAU TOWN (By bus)
STC bus No. 2. and take approx. 1 hour. Every 40 mins. First bus (from Kuching) 6 am, last bus 6 pm. Please check with the bus driver on the fare before boarding.
HOW TO GET TO BUNTAL VILLAGE (By bus)
Petra Jaya bus No. 2B and take about 45-50 mins. Please check with the bus driver on the fare before boarding.
HOW TO GET TO BAKO (VILLAGE/ JETTY) (By bus)
Petra Jaya bus No. 6 and take about 45 mins. The first bus (from Kuching) 6.40 am and the last bus back from Bako jetty is 5.00 pm. White minibuses (bas sewa) also go to Kampung Bako. They operate from 6 am to 6 pm and depart from the open air market. There is no fixed schedule - minibuses leave when they are full. Please check with the bus driver on the fare before boarding.
HOW TO GET TO SARIKEI ( By bus )
The journey will take around 5-6 hrs.
• Biaramas Express - departs 6.30 am, 8.30 am, 12.30 pm, 5 pm and 10 pm.
• Borneo Highway Express - departs 7.30 am, 9.45 am, 1 pm, 5 pm and 10 pm.
• PB Ekspress - departs at 6.30 am, 8.30 am, 12.30 pm, 4.30 pm, 9.00 pm and 9.45 pm. Please check with the bus driver on the fare before boarding.
