This is definitely one of the place not to be missed and undoubtedly one of the best attractions in the Kuching area. It offers the opportunity of getting close to some highly mischievous, semi-wild Orang Utan. They are set free in a 740-hectare forest reserve. Here, the Orang Utans are being nurtured to re-adapt themselves to the jungle life.At the centre, you get the chance to experience of standing close to Orang Utans in their natural habitat. Watch them swing gracefully as they make their way here during the feeding times. Other attractions include an arboretum, fernery, botanical garden and fruit orchard. This Centre is part of the Semenggoh nature reserve which consists of Semenggoh Bio Centre, Botanical Garden, Forest Nursery, Seed Bank, Herb Ethnobotany Centre, Fern and Orchid Garden.
The Semenggoh Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre aim aim is to reintroduce as many of the animals as possible to their natural habitat, as many had been orphaned by logging or were being illegally kept as pets. Officially visitors are supposed to obtain an entry permit from the National Parks & Wildlife Booking Office in the Visitors' Information Centre in Kuching before heading to Semenggoh.
LOCATION:
The centre is located some 22km from Kuching. The best option to go there is to get a local tour operators that run trips to the centre.
REMARKS:
The Centre opens daily
- 8.00am to 5.15pm ( including Sundays, Public Holidays)
A visit to the Centre is recommended at or before the feeding times for the orang Utan. Visitors must leave via the main gate by 4.45pm.
Feeding times:
- 9.00am - 10.00am (Morning Session)
- 3.00pm - 3.30pm (Afternoon Session)

HOW TO GET TO SEMENGGOH (By bus)
STC bus No.6.and take approx 45 - 50 minutes. Please check with the bus conductor on the fare before boarding. Alternatively, you can take a taxi.
