• SARAWAK MUSEUM: Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg
Sarawak Museum Acknowledge as one of the finest in Asia, the Sarawak Museum has an excellent collection Borneon ethnological and archeological artifacts. Completed in 1891, the museum's facade has its origins in France (Normandy) but the interior is dedicated to the heritage and cultures of Borneo. It houses an exceptional ethnographic collection, some good natural history displays and a section on the oil industry in Sarawak. The exhibition of traditional wood-carvings is magnificient. In the Museum grounds there is an Aquarium, the Botanical Gardens and the Heroes ’ Memorial, built to commemorate the dead of WW 2, the Communist Insurgency and Confrontation with Indonesia.

• CHINESE MUSEUM: Jalan Main Bazaar
This building was originally used by the Chinese community as a court to administer the laws and customs on marriage, divorce and probate. In 1921, the court was dissolved and the took over by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce till 1990. Today, the building is turned into Chinese Museum to exhibit the trace of old history of Chinese settlement in Sarawak.

• TEXTILE & COSTUME MUSEUM
The Textile and Costume Museum is located at The Pavillion in Kuching City. Its architecture is a mixture of the English Renaissance and English Colonial. It is rectangular in design, three stories high with a flat concrete roof. Two flights of timber staircase lead to the upper floors and are decorated with ornamental balustrades. Constructed in 1907 as a medical centre, it later became the headquarters of the Education Department. It will be open to the public in August 2000. It houses and display authentic local textiles and costumes made by the ethnic community of Sarawak like the internationally known Iban pua kumbu and Sarawak Malay kain songket. The exibition flow follows the process of making a textile which starts with the raw material and through the weaving stage and ends up with the finished product. Visitors will have the opportunity to test their skills on the loom and ''touch on' exhibits.

• ISLAMIC MUSEUM: Jalan Tun P.Ramlee
The Sarawak Islamic Museum occupies the Maderasah, a concrete and brick building recognized as the only one of its kind in the state. Built in 1930 along Jalan P. Ramlee, it was originally meant to be a college for higher Malay Studies. Situated near the Sarawak Museum, is the first of its kind in South-East Asia. The Islamic Museum has 8 galleries exclusively devoted to the exhibits of architecture, coinage, weapon, textile, pottery, porcelains and other artifacts of Islamic origin. Today it is the first Islamic museum established in South East Asia. It presents a clear picture of the rich historical heritage and special culture of the Muslim community in Sarawak and throughout the Malay-Indonesian archipelago. This museum is located behind the new wing of the Sarawak Museum across the road.

Welcome to a world dedicated to cats! Touted to be the world's first, the Cat Museum pays tribute to these adorable felines with a range of exhibits, photos, statues and souvenirs. In Malay, Kucing means 'cat'. The museum is far more than just a collection of artifacts. Material has been collected from, and donated by, countries from all over the globe. It entertains cat lovers but also acts as a useful research centre outlining the history, legends and various beliefs about cats.
